Outreach Events
Ohio Southern Division Regional Braille Challenge: On February 26th, both of our research coordinator's attended the event to share information regarding the WHALABY project and contribute to a presentation for parents of blind, visually impaired, and low vision children. We enjoyed connecting with families and engaging with students.
California Southern Braille Challenge: On March 8th, the Youth VIEW Team attended the event, where they set up a booth to engage with families in the community and share details about the WHALABY project. We loved meeting families, answering their questions, and collaborating with others who are passionate about supporting children with visual impairments.
Nebraska Braille Challenge: On March 13th, our research coordinator, Dannielle, attended the event virtually to reconnect with the community as a Braille Challenge alum and give a talk about the Youth VIEW Team’s WHALABY project. We appreciated the opportunity to engage with families!
New York Camp Abilities: On June 28th and 29th, Arianna, our research coordinator, had a wonderful time at New York Camp Abilities! She met with families, connected with campers, and shared more about the Youth VIEW Team’s WHALABY project. It was an incredible opportunity to build relationships and learn from the community.
Texas Camp Abilities: On July 5th, Our team was excited to attend Texas Camp Abilities this summer! We enjoyed connecting with new families, and sharing information on the WHALABY project. The energy and enthusiasm of the camp made it a truly special experience.
National Federation for the Blind 2025 National Convention: On July 9th - 12th, Attending the NFB National Convention was a highlight of our summer! Our research coordinators had the chance to connect with families from across the country, while also building relationships with organizations working to support the blind and low-vision community. We were excited to share the WHALABY project and exchange ideas with others who are equally passionate about improving quality of life for the blind community.
Alabama's School for the Blind Back to School Event: On August 10th, the back-to-school event was a fantastic way to kick off the school year! Our team loved meeting students and families, celebrating their excitement for the year ahead, and sharing information about the WHALABY project.
Maryland's School for the Blind End of Summer Celebration: On August 23rd, we wrapped up the summer with a fun-filled day at the Maryland School for the Blind! Our research coordinators joined families and students in celebrating the close of summer and the start of a new school year, while also introducing the WHALABY project to the community.
